Oggi entriamo un po\u2019 pi\u00f9<strong> nel dettaglio dei meccanismi antifiamma.<\/strong><\/p><h2>Gli additivi ritardanti di fiamma spengono il fuoco?<\/h2><p>Partiamo da un presupposto fondamentale: il compito degli antifiamma \u00e8 <strong>interrompere o rallentare una o pi\u00f9 fasi del ciclo di combustione<\/strong> (per esempio ritardando l\u2019innesco o riducendo la velocit\u00e0 di sviluppo del calore) limitando la propagazione della fiamma. In una situazione ideale, il flame retardant riesce anche a spegnere la fiamma, ma <strong>l\u2019obiettivo principale \u00e8 guadagnare tempo<\/strong> per poter scappare o intervenire in maniera sostanziale sull\u2019incendio.<\/p><p>Un additivo antifiamma pu\u00f2 agire in diverse fasi (condensata, gassosa, durante il riscaldamento o durante la fusione); <strong>non esiste quindi un unico meccanismo valido per tutti gli additivi<\/strong>, come non esiste un antifiamma valido per tutti i polimeri. Per questo <strong>la fase di analisi del prodotto e di confronto<\/strong> gli altri attori della filiera di produzione (compoundatori, stampatori, etc) <strong>\u00e8 fondamentale<\/strong>, per individuare la soluzione pi\u00f9 adatta al singolo prodotto.<\/p><h2>I principali meccanismi ritardanti di fiamma<\/h2><h4>Water development (o meccanismo di sviluppo d\u2019acqua)<\/h4><p>Questo primo meccanismo prevede l\u2019utilizzo di <strong>idrossidi inorganici<\/strong> \u2013 i pi\u00f9 utilizzati sono l\u2019idrossido di alluminio \u00a0e l\u2019Idrossido di magnesio \u2013 che si decompongono endotermicamente quando riscaldati, dando vita a <strong>una reazione che assorbe il calore e libera vapore acqueo<\/strong>. Si ottengono quindi:<\/p><ul><li><strong>raffreddamento<\/strong>, sottraendo calore al polimero<\/li><li><strong>diluzione dei gas infiammabili e dell\u2019ossigeno<\/strong> grazie al vapore acqueo<\/li><li>formazione di un residuo inorganico che pu\u00f2 contribuire alla formazione di una barriera protettiva.<\/li><\/ul><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone idrogeno, ossigeno e ossidrile, durante la <strong>fase gassosa.<\/strong> Si possono utilizzare <strong>composti bromurati oppure additivi a base fosforo.<\/strong><\/p><p>Possiamo riassumere in maniera semplificata le differenze tra le due categorie come segue:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-22daa49 elementor-widget fisicamente la fonte di calore dalla sua superficie, attraverso la creazione di <strong>una barriera protettiva (char).<\/strong><\/p><p>Si riducono quindi la volatilit\u00e0 delle sostanze combustibili verso l\u2019atmosfera e il passaggio dell\u2019ossigeno verso il polimero.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22818 size-large\" dell\u2019<strong>intumescenza<\/strong>. Quando riscaldato, il sistema si espande e forma uno strato carbonizzato, poroso e multicellulare, che si caratterizza per una bassa conducibilit\u00e0 termica.<\/p><p>Si combinano in questo caso <strong>un\u2019azione chimica e una fisica<\/strong>, in grado di ridurre significativamente il rilascio del calore e la propagazione della fiamma.<\/p><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" c\u2019\u00e8 il<strong> sistema di gocciolamento<\/strong>: a differenza dei meccanismi precedenti, che agiscono sulla fiamma o sulla superficie del polimero, <strong>gli additivi dripping agiscono chimicamente sul materiale polimerico<\/strong>, favorendo il gocciolamento del materiale fuso.<\/p><p>Durante la combustione il ritardante di fiamma rompe le catene del polimero, che diventano
